After growing up in Pennsylvania, Florida, and Connecticut, Jacqui Robbins went on to graduate from Yale with a degree in Theater and Anthropology. Though she had dreams of being a famous theater director, she decided to work with children instead, working as a drama teacher, an SAT tutor, a bookstore shelver and story-reader, and even typist, before realizing that her real passion was to teach children to read and write.

Robbins’ first title, The New Girl … and Me was published by Simon & Schuster in 2006, and featured in General Mills’ “Spoonfuls of Stories” promotion, which placed children’s stories from select authors in millions of boxes of cereal in the US and Mexico. She continues to write, and also teaches at Ann Arbor’s Allen Creek Preschool, directs plays for the Penny Seats Theatre Company and for 826michigan, where she previously served as president of the board.
