About the Book Scene in Ann Arbor

We love the fact that Ann Arbor is home to so many great authors, bookstores, and groups devoted to writing and publishing. One thing we noticed was missing though, was a single place to find all these things!

That’s why we created this site. In spite of all the great local brick and mortar bookstores, not one of them makes a point of stocking all the titles by local authors available in one place. We do, meaning you can browse over 400 titles by Ann Arbor authors in one place, and easily purchase them in our online store! We also have compiled useful lists of all the local bookstores, publishers, and writers’ workshops we could find.

Aside from the fact that Ann Arbor is home to the University of Michigan, it’s also often rated on “best places to live” lists, both of which may have something to do with why it is home to so many talented and notable authors, like Charles Baxter, Loren D. Estleman, children’s author Alfred Slote, and hundreds more. This high density of talent and smarty-pants residents means the demand for quality bookstores and other resources is high.
